Legendary Driver Frank Lockhart Killed - Thrown from Car (1928). Lockhart was an American automobile racing driver, and Indianapolis 500 winner, and considered a legend in the sport by many historians. On April 25, 1928, Lockhart's Stutz Black Hawk Special streamliner reached 198.29 mph (319.1 km/h) on a warmup run on Daytona Beach, Florida. On Lockhart's return pass the Black Hawk Special cut a tire (probably on a seashell), went out of control and tumbled violently across the sand, throwing Lockhart from the car and killing him instantly. The film shows the moment it happened. First Ever Monaco Grand Prix (1929). Great footage of the first ever Monte Carlo grand prix. Organised in 1929 by Anthony Noghes, the race sees British driver William Grover-Williams driving a Bugatti 35B taking the title. He beat the great German driver, Rudolf Caracciola. The Monte Carlo circuit is still one of the most demanding and dangerous formula one circuits with its narrow streets, windy tunnel and tight corners around the city. The famous Monaco harbour has also played its role with a couple of drivers having crashed into the sea - the most famous being Alberto Ascari.
